We are excited to announce that well-known Rakugo performer, Shinoharu Tatekawa, will be at St. Mary's on November 30 to share his stories with grades 4 to 6. Tatekawa-san tells stories in English he will use a fan and a towel or piece of rope for props while sitting on top of several pillows. He's a lot of fun and had us rolling in the aisles last time he was here.

We are excited to host Ms. Kazuyo Burland, a Kamishibai artist and professional storyteller.  She will be meeting with the 3rd and 4th grade classes only, in the ES Library and will also introduce a couple of this year's Japanese Picture Books for the Sakura Medal Program.  Ms. Burland's presentation will include a section on Japanese tongue twisters.

In November 2006, famous author David M. Schwartz visited St. Mary's for two days. He is the author of award-winning book How Much is a Million?, and almost 50 other books! His books emphasize the importance of mathematics in everyone's life, and the many connections between math, science and literacy.

On October 11, 2005, Richard Tulloch performed his entertaining show 'Story Man' for ALL Elementary students! He used mime, audience participation and his unique storytelling style to bring his original stories magically to life! The show was a hit - everyone had a great time listening to Mr. Tulloch's funny stories. He also talked about how he writes stories - he always begins with an 'Uh-oh!' and sometimes ends with a twist!

Thanks to the generosity of the The Asialink Centre from Australia, the award winning Australian author/illustrator Alison Lester visited St. Mary's International School on Thursday 11th November. Alison's ran her renowned book-making workshops with RP and Grade 2 classes on Thursday. The workshops were a great success and all students,teachers and parents had a fantastic time andlearnt a great deal about how to make a book!
